HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK ALONE
If everyone who gets this sends it to 10 people, you can bet that we'll save at least one life.
Let's say it's 6: 15 p. m. and you're driving home (alone of course), after an unusually hard day on the
job. You're really tired, upset and frustrated.
Suddenly, you start experiencing severe pain in your chest that starts to radiate out into your arm and up
into your jaw. You are only about five miles from the hospital nearest your home; unfortunately you don't
know if you'll be able to make it that far.
What can you do? You've been trained in CPR but the guy that taught the course neglected to tell you how to perform
it on yourself. Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack, this article seemed to be in order.
Without help, the person whose heart stops beating properly and who begins to feel faint, has only about
10 seconds left before losing consciousness.
However, these victims can help themselves by coughing
repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each cough. The cough must be deep and
prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest. And a cough must be repeated about every 2
seconds without let up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again.
Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood
circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart
attack victims can get to a hospital. Tell as many other people as possible about this, it could save their lives!

Medical Info: CANCER
Please note the following :
CANCER : Not all cancers are the same. 1/3 is curable. 1/3 is preventable.
2 factors of cancer that cannot be controlled are AGE & FAMILY HISTORY.
CAUSES OF CANCER
1.Smoking is very often the main cause of cancer.
It kills us silently and drains money from us quietly. There're 4,000 harmful chemicals (though
in diluted form) in one stick of cigarette. Taking one puff is 600 times worse than inhaling
exhaust fumes from vehicles.
2.Some foods that cause cancer is :
a.Barbecued Food
b.Deep Fried Food
c.Overheating Meat
d.Food that is high in fat causes our bile to secrete acid that contains a chemical which is a
promoter of cancer cells.
e.Food that contains preservatives, too much salt or nitrates, e.g. canned food, salted egg &
veggies, sausages, etc.
f. Overnight Rice (where Aflatoxin is accumulated)
g.Food that is low in fibre : Our body needs 25gm of both soluble & insoluble fibre daily. We
must drink at least 1.5 litres of plain water a day.
h.Contaminated Food (e.g. moulded bread causes our body to secrete toxins that may eventually
lead to liver cancer in the long run. Never eat bread that is kept in room temperature for more
than 2 days especially in a humid weather.)
3.Types of fat and which is the best?
Highly Recommended for Health :
a.Olive Oil - It does not absorb in our body.
b.Fish Oil - Omega 3 (contained in NI's Circulates) has poly-unsaturated fat. It's good for our
brain cells.
c.Peanut Oil - It contains Vitamin E. A small dosage is recommended only.
4.Not Recommended for Health
a.Vegetable Fat - Palm oil is worse than coconut oil. It is high in cholesterol and highly
unsaturated.
b.Coconut Oil - It has saturated fat.
5.Specific Food & Beverages
a.Egg when eaten too much can cause High Colon Cancer, Risk Ovary Cancer, Prostate Cancer.
b.Cabbage is highly recommended for health reason.
c.Tomato is best eaten raw with a bit of olive oil for better absorption. Other alternative is
to take tomato sauce.
d.Coffee is good because it contains 2 anti-oxidants. Inhale coffee aroma for half each day is
equivalent to eating 2 oranges a day. However, the residue of over-burned coffee is extremely
bad for health. It can cause cancer.
e.Tea, as long as it is in its original tealeaves and not processed into BOH or Lipton packets,
it is good for health. Tea contains 30 anti-oxidants. Recommended dosage is 2-3 cups a day.
EXERCISE AND BE FIT
Have a balanced lifestyle. Exercise regularly.
F: Frequency: 3 to 5 times a week.
I : Intensity: Exercise till we sweat and breath deeply.
T: Types of exercises : Find one that suits our age, lifestyle...
HAVE REGULAR CHECK-UP once we reach the age of 45 & above, it is recommended that we go for
regular comprehensive health examination.Early detection may save lives.

Subject: Microwave ovens users: Please read this!!!

To all who use microwave ovens: Please read this!!! An article
sent on the net -
My 26-year old son decided to have a cup of coffee. He took a cup of
water and put it in the microwave to heat it up (something that he had
done numerous times before). I am not sure how long he set the timer
for, but he told me he wanted to bring the water to a boil. When the
timer shut the oven off, he removed the cup from the oven.
As he looked into the cup, he noted that the water was not boiling, but
instantly the water in the cup "blew up" into his face. The cup remained
intact until he threw it out of his hand but all the water had flown out
into his face due to the build up of energy. His whole face is blistered
and he has 1st and 2nd degree burns to his face which may leave
scarring.
He also may have lost partial sight in his left eye. While at the
hospital, the doctor who was attending to him stated that this is fairly
common occurrence and water (alone) should never be heated in a
microwave oven. If water is heated in this manner, something should be
placed in the cup to diffuse the energy such as a wooden stir stick, tea
bag, etc. It is however a much safer choice to boil the water in a tea
kettle.
Please pass this information on to friends and family.
General Electric's response:
Thanks for contacting us, Mr. Williams. I will be happy to assist you.
The e-mail that you received is correct. Microwaved water and other
liquids do not always bubble when they reach the boiling point. They can
actually get superheated and not bubble at all. The superheated liquid
will bubble up out of the cup when it is moved or when something like a
spoon or tea bag is put into it.
To prevent this from happening and causing injury, do not heat any
liquid for more than two minutes per cup. After heating, let the cup
stand in the microwave for thirty seconds before moving it or adding
anything into it.
I hope this helps.
Here is what our local science teacher had to say on the matter:
"Thanks for the microwave warning. I have seen this happen before. It is
caused by a phenomenon known as super heating. It can occur anytime
water is heated and will particularly occur if the vessel that the water
is heated in is new, or when heating a small amount of water (less than
half a cup).
What happens is that the water heats faster than the vapor bubbles can
form. If the cup is very new then it is unlikely to have small surface
scratches inside it that provide a place for the bubbles to form. As the
bubbles cannot form and release some of the heat that has built up, the
liquid does not boil, and the liquid continues to heat up well past its
boiling point. What then usually happens is that the liquid is bumped or
jarred, which is just enough of a shock to cause the bubbles to rapidly
form and expel the hot liquid. The rapid formation of bubbles is also
why a carbonated beverage spews when opened after having been shaken."

Subject : Pink Eye / viral conjunctivitis
Date: Wed, 23 Jul 2003 01:15:36 -0700 (PDT)
Dear All,
Here is some basic information about the rampant eye infection called- "pink
eye" or viral conjunctivitis
What is "pink eye" or viral conjunctivitis?
Currently, city wide we are experiencing an epidemic of "pink eye" or viral
conjunctivitis.
The symptoms of this eye disease are:
Sudden onset of redness
Sensitivity to light, swelling of eyelids,
Excessive tearing or clear discharge in one or both eyes.
Many times the symptoms begin in one eye with subsequent involvement of the
other eye. Often there is a history of exposure to someone with similar
symptoms or a history of a recent upper respiratory infection, symptoms of
which include flu, mild fever, runny nose or sore throat.
How does "pink eye" spread?
"Pink eye" is a very common eye infection that spreads from one person to another.
The virus is transferred by way of secretions from the eye and nose
and transferred to inanimate surfaces like desks and door handles.
The virus can live on these surfaces for up to 40 days. Individuals
who touch these contaminated surfaces and then touch their eyes are likely
to become infected.
What can I do to avoid getting the infection or spreading it to others?
The best way to avoid infection is to practice frequent hand washing.
If you have "pink eye", avoid touching your eyes and touching other surfaces likes chairs,
desks, keyboards, doorknobs etc. Practice frequent hand washing
If you wipe your eyes with a tissue, dispose of the tissue immediately. Do not leave it on
other surfaces.
You will likely be contagious for 7-10 days.
Do I need antibiotics for this type of conjunctivitis?
Very often, people believe this is a bacterial infection and requires antibiotics. This is not
true.
The problem is viral and gets better on its own.
You can use any brand of artificial tears to keep the eyes lubricated. You can use these drops
as frequently as needed to keep your eyes comfortable
Very rarely, vision is noted to change around 2 or more weeks after the initial onset of
symptoms. Should this occur, you should be seen in the eye clinic promptly so that appropriate
treatment can be started.
The most important measure you can take to avoid getting the infection and passing it on to
others is TO PRACTICE FREQUENT HAND WASHING. At home try to AVOID SHARING TOWELS AND
PILLOWCASES. Also IF YOU KNOW THAT SOMEONE WITH CONJUNCTIVITIS HAS TOUCHED OTHER SURFACES, CLEAN
THEM WHENEVER POSSIBLE WITH A HOSPITAL DISINFECTANT, METHYLATED SPIRIT OR ALCOHOL WIPE.

HEALTH TIPS 10 Reasons to Stop Smoking Now
Thinking about quitting smoking? Wondering if it really matters? Here are
just 10 of the many health benefits that start the day you stop.
1. Do It for Your Family
Your spouse and your children will be less likely to die from lung cancer or
heart disease. If you think you're the only one who benefits from your
quitting, think again.
Environmental tobacco smoke kills spouses and children by increasing their
risk of lung cancer and heart disease even if they never smoked. Your
quitting can save their lives.
2. Do It for Your Children
Women who want to have a baby have even more reasons to quit. Women who
smoke are more likely to have a stillborn child or an infant who dies from
Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Quitting will increase the amount of
oxygen your baby will get, increase the chance your baby's lungs will work
well, have fewer asthma and wheezing problems, and improve your baby's
chances of being born healthy, instead of too early.
3. Do It for Your Skin
Fewer wrinkles. The Surgeon General doesn't usually talk about wrinkles, but
his most recent report on smoking concludes that studies show that smokers
have more facial wrinkles.
4. Do It for Your Eyes
If you stop smoking, you are less likely to become blind. You will be less
likely to ever develop cataracts, a major cause of blindness. And quitting
may also decrease your risk of macular degeneration, another frequent cause
of blindness.
5. Do It for Your Mood
You might think that smoking is relaxing, but think again. Research shows
that women who smoke are more depressed and more anxious. Adolescents who
smoke are more likely to have phobias or be anxious as adults. So, quitting
may make you happier as well as healthier.
6. Do It for the Money!
Think of all the money you'll save by giving up smoking. A good strategy is
to put aside the money you save every day, and use it to buy something
special to reward yourself for quitting. (Don't wait too long -- rewards
every few days or every week will help you maintain your will power.)
7. Do It for Your Heart
Women who smoke are more than twice as likely as other women to have a heart
attack. Your risk of having a heart attack increases with the number of
cigarettes you smoked, so stopping today makes a difference.
8. Do It for Your Lungs
You know that smoking causes lung cancer, but did you know that lung cancer
kills more women than any other cancer -- and that nine out of ten are
linked to smoking? The numbers of women dying of lung cancer have increased
by 600% since 1950, as the number of women smokers has increased. The sooner
you stop smoking, the less likely you are to get lung cancer.
9. Do It for Your Life
You'll live longer -- much longer! Women who die of a smoking-related
disease lose, on average, 14.5 years of life. Even if you have trouble
quitting, reducing the number of cigarettes could save your life. And women
who stop smoking entirely can get many of those years back -- improving the
chances that you will live to enjoy your grandchildren and even great
grandchildren.
10. Just Do It!
There are other benefits too -- for example, quitting smoking will cut your
risk of stroke dramatically and lower your risk of bladder cancer and hip
fractures. If the health benefits don't do it for you, think about this:
wouldn't it be great to avoid that pathetic feeling of standing outside
alone in the pouring rain or hand-numbing cold, grabbing that last smoke
before going back to work?
The best day in your life could be the day you stop.
N STOP SMOKE COZ SOMEONE CARES 4 u..... otherwise
