Lyrics - كلمات الأنشودة

Do you know who makes the sadness go away when life turns its back on you?

أتدري من يزيل الهم إن ضآقت بك الدنيآ

And who takes care of you , (and) never forgets you however you live …

ومن يرعآك لآ ينسآك دوماً كيفمآ تحيآ

So glory be to Allah who guides and heals one’s confusion

فسبحآن الذي يهدي ويشفي حيرة العبد

And He gives without limits in this life .

ويعطي دونمآ حدٍ جزيل الأجر في الدنيآ

Do you know who answers man if he makes a mistake in public or or hides it?

أتدري من يجيب العبد أبدى السوء أو وآرى

And who gives Paradise and rivers as a reward for charity .

ومن يجزي على المعروف جنآت وأنهآرآ

So say ‘O Allah , let me reach the Home of Eternity and safety .’

فقل يآرب بلغني لدآر الخلد والأمن

And to solve my problems and let not anyone harm me .

ونفس كربتي عني وجنبني أذى الدنيآ

Do you know who guided man and encouraged him to give in charity?

أتدري من هدى الإنسآن بالإحسآن يوصيه

And He doesn’t accept you to disobey Him , so look how do you keep disobeying Him?

ولآ يرضى له العصيآن فأُنظر كيف تعصيه

So Who do you show the complaints to and beg for the things you desire?

فمن تبدي له الشكوى ومن ترجوه مآ تهوى

And where can you find any relief and peace if you not under His Forgiveness?

ومن في عفوه السلوى على مآ

…in this World?

كآن في الدنيآ

1) Common mistakes in Ramadan

2) Helpful things in Ramadan and Fasting

3) Things To Be Avoided During Ramadan

1) Common mistakes in Ramadhan:

1. Drinking Milkshakes made with syrups etc on a daily basis

- Why Don't: It contains high amounts of sugar, additives  and colourants

- Solution: If you have to, drink it twice a week maximum

2. Drinking large amounts of water at iftaar time

- Why this mistake: Filling the stomach with water is more strenuous to it than with food.

- Solution: have a few sips at iftaar then a glass after every two hours.

3. Exercising directly after iftaar.

- Why this mistake: the body's blood flow is concentrated around the stomach at that time.

- Solution: Exercise after two hours of eating to ease digestion.

4. Chewing and swallowing food fast.

- Why this mistake: chewing food slowly can speed up digestion and help maintain your weight

5. Having dessert directly after iftaar

- Why this mistake: they make you drowsy and sleepy

- Solution: leave at least a two hour gap between iftaar and dessert to stay fresh and awake for ishaa and taraweeh prayers

6. Consuming foods with high amounts of sodium

- Why this mistake: Sodium triggers thirst through out the fasting hours of the day

- Solution: instead, eat foods that are high in potassium, they retain water and supress your thirst.

2) Helpful things in Ramadan and Fasting

# Bananas are high in potassium. A banana at Suhoor time can control your thirst level through out the day.

# Best sources of potassium for Suhoor time:

 - bananas

 - milk

 - dates

 - avocados

 - dried peaches

 - pistachios

 - pumpkin

 - peas

 - dark chocolate

# Worst choices for Suhoor:

 - biryani

 - kebab

 - pizza

 - fast food in general

 - cheese

 - haleem

# Best choices for Suhoor:

 - potato

 - rice

 - dates

 - whole grain bread

 - banana

# Drinking lots of water at suhoor is important, but not as much as drinking it through out your non-fasting hours.

3) Things To Be Avoided During Ramadan

1. Don't sleep during the day and pray all night. By doing this you are converting the day into night and the night into day, which is not the purpose of fasting.

2. Avoid being lazy and inactive during the day.

3. Don't waste time playing games during the day. Rather, please Allah by increasing in your worship of him.

4. Avoid having Iftar parties. Ramadan wasn't meant to be a food extravaganza.

5. Dont ask and let your mother or wife to spend Ramadan in the Kitchen. Eat something light and quick. Let her also make Du'a n utilize the month of forgiveness.

6. Spend the last 10 days worshipping Allah rather than trying to prepare for Eid! A day that is better than a thousand months is in these last 10 days. You can't afford to miss this.

7. Dont stay awake the full night. Your body has a right over you, and when it wants rest, then rest.

8. Avoid excessive socialising after Taraweeh

9. Avoid shopping a lot in Ramadhaan.

10. Dont eat the full night.

11. Dont loiter around at night rather than worshipping Allah.

12. Eid doesnt require loads of preparation. Dont fall into this trap! Keep it simple, and it will be blessed.

May we avail this Ramadan with sound health and with loved one family - Aameen....

Arnoud Van Doorn (extreme left), former leader of the Dutch rightist Freedom Party, prays at the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah. — Okaz photo

Arnoud Van Doorn converts to islam after making anti-muslim film, From An Islamophobe To A Muslim...

MADINAH – Former Dutch Islamophobe and a former leading member of far-right Dutch politician Geert Wilders’ party Arnoud Van Doorn visited the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah to pray and say sorry for becoming part of a blasphemous film.

Doorn was among the Freedom Party leaders who produced the blasphemous film, Fitna. Last month he reverted to Islam after an extensive study about the religion and the Prophet (peace be upon him).

He said that the worldwide outrage against the film made him study about the Prophet (pbuh) and that eventually led to his conversion.

He headed for Makkah to perform Umrah after meeting the two imams of the Prophet’s Mosque, Sheikh Ali Al-Hudaifi and Sheikh Salah Al-Badar, who enlightened him on how to lead the life of a good Muslim and confront challenges facing Islam in the West.

A member of the Dutch parliament and The Hague City Council, Doorn announced his decision to accept Islam on his Twitter profile. He also posted a tweet in Arabic declaring that “there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is his Prophet.”

At first, other users took the news as a joke. After all, an active supporter of a notorious Dutch hater of Islam, Wilders, he repeatedly approved Islamophobic statements and public actions, and personally participated in them.

But Doorn, who now serves as a regional adviser at the City Hall in The Hague, personally confirmed his decision to practice Islam in an official letter to the city mayor.

Most recently, the politician filed a formal application to the mayor of the city to allow him to perform prayers obligatory for Muslims during his working hours.

“I can understand people are skeptic, especially that it is unexpected for many of them,” Doorn told Al-Jazeera English satellite channel.

“This is a very big decision, which I have not taken lightly.”

“In my own close circle people have known that I have been actively researching the Qur’an, Hadith, Sunnah and other writings for almost a year now,” he said.

“In addition, I have had numerous conversations with Muslims about the religion.”

Driven by his party’s anti-Islam discourse, Doorn decided to dig in for the truth about the religion himself.

“I have heard so many negative stories about Islam, but I am not a person who follows opinions of others without doing my own research,” he said. “Therefore, I have actually started to deepen my knowledge of Islam out of curiosity.”

The 46-year-old has continued on The Hague Council as an independent candidate since splitting from Wilders’s party. Doorn’s decision to embrace Islam has won mixed reactions in the Netherlands.

“According to some people I am a traitor, but according to most others I have actually made a very good decision,” he told Al-Jazeera.

“The reactions are generally positive and I also received quite some support via twitter.

“It feels good that people who do not know me personally have understanding of my situation and support me in my choice.”

Asked if he now regretted joining the Freedom Party, he replied: “I have learned that every experience in life has a purpose. However, with the knowledge I have today, I would have undoubtedly made a different choice.”

For the Dutch politician, finding Islam was finally guiding him to the true path in his life. “I have made mistakes in life as many others. From these mistakes I have learned a lot,” Doorn said.

“And by my conversion to Islam I have the feeling that I finally found my path. I realize that this is a new start and that I still have much to learn as well.”

By Boona Muhammad

Let me take a moment to show some kindness,
To the folks who blindness was a disease that effected the eyes alone,
I promise I won't judge you, I barely know how to love you
And like fools we preach rules, but we don't even follow our own.

Everybody needs comfort,
Some people find it in this; some people find it in that
And some people just don't find it at all.

But this world is full of signs
From the moon to the stars in the sky
From the bees and the bugs, like a seed in your blood
Like a feen to a drug, makes you need to look up
And questions what's up, why you deal with this stuff?
When your spirits are crushed and you trek through the rough
But like thunder it struck, said "Be" and it was

All the signs that were sent, they finally make sense
You feel the torment, so you need to repent
When your heart is cement, it's hard as a brick
Cause your soul is worth more than the dollars and cents,
All the money in the world couldn't buy you happiness
Cause "verily, it is in the remembrance of Allah, that hearts do find rest"

And do not get it confused,
I'm not a scholar or a preacher
I'm just a regular dude, who makes mistakes too
But we are reflections true,
So I cant talk about me without talking about you

And who knew?
We would end up in a place so confused
Where little boys wanna be like little girls and little girls just wanna be abused
Where the terrorize the truth, mentally arrest the youth
Even though there is no law but Allahs' and momma didn't raise no fool.

And who knew?
That expecting the world to treat you fairy because you think you're a good person,
Would be a little like expecting a bull not to attack you because you're a vegetarian,
You can't begin to learn what you think you already know
In mans own ignorance we forgot that women once watched us grow
And before that you were a tiny ball of flesh without any bones
And before that you were just unknown, and now look behold
You have the arrogance to assume that you just made it on your own?
But what were you but a chewed piece of clot, before the grew
And who knew you would trace you ancestry back to a zoo?
You must have really come from apes with your monkey point of views
Even the devil believes in God, so what does that make you?

And it's true
Sometimes I feel like Noah preaching to a packed empty room
Nobody wanna listen until we start rolling out two by two
I'm a big fan of Abraham; never break-up from Jacob
Joseph had the kind of beauty that you couldn't find in makeup
Moses was to Pharaoh what stones are to arrows
And David to Goliath was truth is to silence
Following, Solomon I'd get down too
Contrary to popular belief, Jesus is my homeboy too.
So peace be upon the whole crew who came to teach what we never knew
Even though few caught the groove, the never turned blue
Never confused what was true even if it was a taboo
Never came for fame or praise but to praise who the prayed too

And who knew?
That an unlettered man from the middle of the desert,
Would change the whole world from darkness into heaven
You may have every title, every big shot degree
But you still can't explain: Alif-Lam-Meem

And who knew?
There would be so many views and way to explain
That he's closer to you than your jugular vein
So if you complain that God must be cruel
Can you give Allah, all that he gives to you?
From the breath that you breath, to the trees that you feed
From the eyes that you see, to the sea that you eat
If I cut you, you bleed, than you heal magically
Were the illest machines, manufactured for means.
The concepts extreme but this world is a dream,
It's not what it seems filled with lies and deceit
The truth is serene so wake up smell the deen
Praises be to He, His Oneness, Supreme
Totally unique, in no need of sleep
Not like you or me, his greatness complete
No partners, no mates, no father, no sons
No discount 3 in 1, just Allah Azwa Jal
Even the birds sing his name,
The Lord of all the worlds
Glory be to He and to Allah is our return
